めまい【目眩･眩暈】

giddiness; dizziness; the whirl of the brain; 【医】 (a) vertigo 《pl. ～s》; 〔頭痛を伴う〕 scotodinia.

●めまいがする be [feel] dizzy; get [feel] giddy; feel strange [queer]; have a sensation of giddiness; have [get] a 《slight》 dizzy spell

・時々めまいがする have frequent dizzy spells; be subject to attacks of vertigo

・めまいがした. My head swam [was in a swim]. | I had a swimming in the head. | My brain reeled.

・ボイラー室の暑さでめまいがした. The heat in the boiler room dizzied me.

・これから処理しなければならない資料の多さにめまいがした. I felt giddy at the amount of the data [reference material] I had to deal with.

・めまいがおさまる giddiness goes [disappears, subsides].

●めまいのするような高さで at a giddy [dizzy(ing)] height 《from the ground》.

●めまいを覚える feel giddy

・立ち上がった瞬間私は軽いめまいを覚えた. I felt slightly giddy the moment I stood up.

・朝礼でめまいを起こして倒れる子がいる. Some pupils break down with giddiness at a morning assembly.

●私は激しいめまいと吐き気に襲われた. I was suddenly struck by a frenzied bout of giddiness and sickness.
